BrightEdge SocialShare July 2012 report - 54% rise in Google+ followers

When I log into my personal Facebook or Twitter account, I am amazed at how many companies, large and small, have set up pages on these sites. Companies are using the social networking scene to attract new fans, advertise their products with candid photos, and entice people to click on a link that takes them to their website.

Just how deep is the adoption of social media by the BrandZ Top 100 brands? What is the rate at which users are engaging with these brands across networks? How does their engagement compare across networks? The BrightEdge SocialShare July 2012 report answers these questions and indicates the kind of effort that the top 100 brands are making to expand their presence in the social networking arena.

For example, 90% of these brands have Facebook pages, 80% have Twitter feeds and 75% have  pages on Google+. Google+ saw an impressive 54% rise in number of followers in the last two months alone. The SocialShare data also indicates that having a Google+ page for your brand can have a distinct effect on your SEO.  In fact, 30% of brands who have Google+ pages appear in a Google search, six times higher the corresponding number for February 2012.
