OMGoogle! This week was all about Google. With the rollout of Google + and other social features, it seems like Google may be poised to take on Facebook as a social tool. We also saw some great tips for avoiding common SEO mistakes and SEO tips for large organizations, and some other news from Twitter about trending summer topics. And not to be forgotten, the Internet celebrate its 40th birthday this year. We’ve also heard rumors that Facebook may be launching “ something awesome next week. Due to overwhelming response, Google had to shutdown the invites to their newly launched social project Google+. Perhaps they can take a page from Twitter and just come up with their own Fail Whale, afterall most people found out about the closure through the Twitter social network.

3. Google Adds +1 Button, Social Analytics Reports

Sure enough, visiting the URL brought up a Google page — but it was a 404 page. Turns out it needs the “www” in order to work. Yes, wdyl.com is not quite ready for prime-time. But it is out there, live!
